The people I know who value nothing above their own lives have been without exception weak and deplorable. You can try and spin this as "preventing ALL deaths, not just mine" but in my experience it's just self-deception. People who can't psychologically handle their own deaths and subordinate it to other goals or principles are too weak to do so.
I'm not arguing against preventing aging. It might be a wonderful thing. But with few exceptions when talking to people who had been on the brink of death and destruction they all said it was the best part of their lives, some saying they would go back to it in an instant.
