Unpopular prediction: Gmail will never implement JMAP, so it's already dead in the water.
But someone can write a proxy that exposes Gmail as a JMAP endpoint?

#72Looking at the request it contains properties like collapseThreads and sort, moving this sort of functionality server side is a regression. This is an API for hosted services, it's disingenuous to compare it to imap.

JMAP is still young; just wait until a plethora of non-interoperable optional extensions get added.

Re #2, if you move things first the filter will be prefilled with how you just searched. This works for me, but probably only works for simple things.

Why wouldn't Google implement JMAP? Interestingly enough JMAP adds support for Gmail-specific behaviors like labels, which IMAP lacks. This would allow other apps and services to better integrate with Gmail's quirky behavior, improving the experience for Gmail users.

Did you consider that they might only be wasting your time? I haven’t ever felt any frustration at any of the things you named.
Both are standard features on GMail, which beats your sample size of 1.

I would be very surprised if the people working on creating and implementing the new protocol have anything to do with the team that would fix the bugs you mention.
If they don't personally, then as a matter of fact they manage them.
