More depressing that people like you would rather stifle expression so broadly in response to false panics like this one. Thanks.
A bit irconic that this comment got immediately flagged and deleted... Edit: looks to be back now. Edit edit: gone again
My reply was be thus before it was reflagged.
Youtube comments are so painfully low quality not to mentioned badly designed as far as interaction that they are nearly 100 useless as it stands. Its a minor loss at best.
Reddit is an actually useful discussion forum with a useable model of interaction and sub communities dedicated to particular interests leading to discussions that are somewhat on topic and with people that are at least peripherally interested in the topic.
To be clear I think there is room for disagreement within the boundaries of the law and site rules and have no problem with communities existing whom I disagree with.
Whats more I'm happy that the code for at least old reddit is open sourced which is why you have at least one complete clone of old reddit with different moderation rules. Even the truly odious can have their own say on their own platform starting at about $75 a year. More if its popular obviously.
What I am specifically predicting is that the individuals who are specifically perving out to kids and juveniles will be liable to turn to a platform like reddit because it allows topical, optionally private subforums with a friendly interface where one can share links and comment.
I'm specifically calling for individuals like that to be banned from reddit. Let them have their own site until they end up guest starring on to catch a predator.
