People don't work that way. For example, I suspect some will decide to hold out for higher money. http://freakonomics.com/2013/10/23/what-makes-people-do-what... gives a well-known account of how monetary incentives don't always work, in that case with late fees for parents who are tardy picking up their children from day care. > The picture that emerged from this experiment, co-authored with Aldo Rustichini, was tha…

> People don't work that way. For example, I suspect some will decide to hold out for higher money. Which is fine, you dont need 100% vaccination rate to get herd immunity. The value of the last people getting a vax is low. Bear in mind people already pay a price but refusing to get vaccinated in time. Also, i would be very surprised to find that the solution to "hold-outs" would be forcefully doing it to them, in al…

Except you don't know what the vaccination rate would be if you start to to pay people for it.

It could get worse.

My example was to point out that your statement "Normally you gotta persuade people or pay them for the inconvenience to get them to do something for you." might be true - "normally" - but is certainly not universal.

Wait, is there a chickenpox vaccination now? Sure wasn't 20-something years ago when I had it, on my birthday, ugh.

It's quite modern. The vaccine didn't exists when I was a child and I'm not sure when it become mandatory in each country. From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chickenpox

> Since its introduction in 1995, the varicella vaccine has resulted in a decrease in the number of cases and complications from the disease.

We also dont know what the cost of mandatory vaccinations actually is: you will need to start prosecuting people, potentially putting them in jail if they resist. Im actually shocked at how casually people throw around mandatory and forcefully in the whole vaccine situation.

We do have an idea, because there are countries with mandatory vaccination laws, including France where refusal to vaccinate, according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaccination_policy , may be considered a form of child abuse.

My point again is to argue that your statements along the lines "What better way to persuade than to pay for it" is not obviously true. It may also be that mandatory vaccination policies are not a good solution. However, that doesn't make your proposed change any better.

France might be an interesting case: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-018-00660-y.

We'll see when someone tries it.

Yes, paying money may work. My point is that it's not a clear cut good solution like you seemed to argue.

You people really trippin over chicken pox? What about the CDC doctor Dr William Thompson who admitted to fraud in vaccine paper? What about another Dr. Thorson wanted by interpol bc he stole CDC money for autism and vaccine research? People will blindly inject vaccines and not even ask about the safety tests for the nano aluminum particles their using... or the XMRV retroviruses from animal byproducts contaminating the supply lines
