Still no source code up? Do you intend for this to be open source or are you trying to push this commercially?

It will be open sourced eventually, it's not ready yet.

You can release source code without it being open sourced.

I'm working on a desktop client for Twitter, FB, Slack etc. It's pretty snappy and weighs only 90 KB (!) https://eul.im Twitter support is coming later this month.

I'm calling bullshit on you, your shenanigans and all of the blind idiots. 1. I can't download past versions and there's no current version to download till tomorrow. Why... 2. You have no github and hn history besides spamming the shit of eul and I can't trust no proprietary third party shit. 4. Do you really think you can open source something that could bite your ass legally (whatsapp)? Will you partially open sou…

You can't attack someone like that on HN, regardless of how bad you consider their software. We ban accounts that do this, so could you please (re-)read https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html, and take the spirit of this site to heart when commenting here?

This allows the following to happen: 1. If someone can make a better MacOS client, they should do so and charge for it! 2. Customers can probably pick up a free client from someone who wants to play around or pay a little more for a pro client

Twitter does not want third party clients, and limits them from getting "too many" users https://thenextweb.com/twitter/2012/08/17/twitter-4/

"too many" is 100,000 IIRC.

Related question.

Suggest a Twitter client that...

is not Electron based

shows tweets horizontally, maximizing number of tweets, minimizing scrolling

hides crap like images and video

shows replies as threads

Windows

Thanks

I didn't attack him, I'm attacking eul. A piece of software that he's promoting ages ago here that could smell malware.

If you want to keep beslaver, do it, if you want to ban me, do it.

He's worse than having no github: https://github.com/eul-im/eul

That's being used as a bugtracker, I would hardly call it 'having a github'.

Can we channel all the anger and frustration this has caused into switching to Mastodon/GNU Social? Open standards, run your own if you want, nobody deprecating or discontinuing anything.

I'm still looking for an "open" alternative that is strong on free speech without being home turf for white identitarians (gab.ai).

Looking an Mastadon's policies makes me give up hope: https://mastodon.social/about/more

Maybe this is a good thing. My current Mac app will remain a "pure" Twitter app and I won't have to worry about it updating to include promotions, suggested tweets, and needless features (unless "stop supporting" means they're shutting off the API).

That is surely what it will come to at some point.

... is there a Mac app? Seems silly to leave Twitter over killing their Mac app if you go somewhere else that also doesn’t have one.

(Let me guess, it’s open so anyone can write a Mac app if they want! Yeah, well there are third party Twitter apps too.)

Personally if I have to jump from Twitter, I'm more likely to switch to Micro.blog [1]. Everything is posted to your own site as an RSS post, and it already has iPhone and Mac apps. And of course, it has an API for making your own apps. [1] https://micro.blog/about

Does it support OStatus?
