#2Not to belittle the nice work, but I feel there was a better reason for making this clone a few years ago. There has been a "HD" version on Steam for a couple of years, which finally has good network support and most of the bugs seem ironed out, after almost 20 years! The only thing I still miss is to be able to run it on Linux...

Having a FLOSS engine for this game is more desirable than having to rely on a proprietary mess like Steam to play AOE2. So I hope this project is eventually successful.
