Profession: Contracted Website Engineering Consultant
[Between 7-7:30 am] Wake up without alarm, check on incontinent girlfriend
[7:30 am] Make coffee, insert into thermos.
[7:45 am] Return to bedroom, pull sheets off gf, change her as she's waking up, kiss her goodbye and depart.
[8 - 8:30 am] Arrive at whatever place I've chosen to work for the day (coffee shop or park by the river usually) and catch up on emails.
[9 am] Open thermos, start working.
[11 am] Head to gym, workout for an hour (depending on the day it's either cardio or boxing)
[12 noon] Drive home, cook a buttload of food and break intermittent fast (usually with some combination of egg, avocado, toast, and meat.) Also pack second meal, generally rice/chicken/spinach in tupperware.
[12:30 pm] Return to someplace from earlier step, re-situate myself, re-open thermos, begin working.
[2:30 pm] Come up for air, check emails, go for a walk if weather permits. Eat tupperware lunch.
[3 pm] Return to whatever work I can finish before productivity begins to wane.
[5 pm] Pick girlfriend up from medical school, return home, bitch about traffic.
[6 pm] Enjoy third meal, whatever we want to split. I try not to force my strange dieting habits on her.
[6:30 pm - 10:30 pm] Some combination of meditation, catching up on programming news, reading books on occult practice, working on side projects, and occasional cuddly activities.
[10:30 pm] Change her for the night, then sleep.
I have strict rules about making work/life balance healthy so I refuse to do anything past 5 pm. It's the common pitfall of the remote contractor. Luckily my boss understands and I perform well enough that he doesn't care. We also live in the Midwest which gives me the benefit of being close enough timezone-wise to both coasts to be able to work alongside both of them decently well. I do sometimes work weekends though, the desire to be productive all day is pretty strong.
