That's literally the only way I can see your anecdotal experience being truthful.

The PC marketplace is open, like the Android one. There's a lot of cruft to sift through, but it should only take about 1-2 hours of research to find the best laptop at any given time and any given price range for any given use-case.

Well sure, but that is true on every system, hence Windows warns "Do not turn off your PC".

Actually Windows can and does use NTFS transactions (TxF) in the Installer and Updater code, so the probability of non-recoverable damage should be lower (which is also my experience; power off a Linux machine during updates and you are pretty much guaranteed to have many packages with empty files, partial file trees and so on; power off a Windows machine and it probably is still fine, but sometimes you get weird issues where it can't properly reinstall/deinstall some updates to try again).

Developers don't develop for iOS first because it is easier. They develop there first because iOS users pay money for things/apps. Android users do not.

I'm an Android user and I pay for things (?) and apps. Are you saying that I'm the only Android user who pays for apps and "things"? Or is your statement just a gratuitous cliche?

It's well understood by many startups and established companies that developing for iOS often takes priority because there's a larger group of users willing to pay more money than their android counterparts

My point was that not having Emacs in Windows is a non problem because the editor market is oversaturated. It's not like the Adobe suite where any other product is almost a downgrade, so running a system that can't run Adobe products would be a liability. Not being able to run Emacs as a reason not to use Windows is like saying; Damn! PulseAudio doesn't work on Windows, guess I'm back to Ubuntu.

I am not the biggest fan of emacs but for what it is it is more on par with people saying "I dont move to Linux because it does not run Adobe products".

There is no alternative for emacs if gimp does not count as alternative for photoshop.

Uhm no. Here in Norway Apple is huge. Go to a major Asian city and there are Macbooks everywhere. Sure there is higher percentage of Apple among some devs and for places with higher income, but to call a major product from one of the most valuable companies in the world "exotic" is absurd.

Again i suspect it depends on when and where one look around (never mind that every Mac has that "WITNESS ME!" spotlight on the lid).

There are certain industries etc that is very heavy Mac users, media production in particular. They crop up in the weirdest of ads because the production staff use them for example. But for the rest of the nation it is Windows all the way.

The only people i know personally that own a Mac musicians or in the ads/marketing/graphics business. And i think the latter, as much as the _nix internals, that has made Mac a web dev fixture.

Basically this. Never mind that you could walk past piles of Lenovos, Samsungs, Acers, Asus', etc etc etc, and never notice. But Apple, thanks to that glowing fruit logo on the lid, basically screams "witness me!".

And here I just sold my i5/gtx670 build in favor of a Macbook Pro, a Raspberry Pi, and a NAS. This one gen old MBPr is my favorite computer I've ever used(I now have two- one provided by my employer as well). So Apple has made some controversial design decision with their newest line of laptops...I still will be purchasing one in two or three years...whenever this one becomes unusable.

but for desk PCs where Apple only has iMacs anymore?

the big ultrawidescreens need powerful GPUs and a displayport (not usb-c yet).

use an ultra for a day, high rez and high Hz, then try go back to a classic LCD. like going to retina on phones.
