Lumi (YC W15) | https://www.lumi.com | Los Angeles, CA | Frontend / Backend Engineers | REMOTE OK | Fulltime Lumi helps e-commerce brands design and order packaging online. We're solving complex supply chain problems involving everything from turning vector-based designs into production-ready artwork, to bringing elegance to the complex systems of pricing, manufacturing, shipping and freight in the packaging industry…

I was searching which companies use RethinkDB and realized your company used to be the Inkodye company. When did the supply chain pivot happen? I'll have to buy up some supplies at one of the retailers that still have it, I always loved that stuff.

Guys who are applying to Gitlab, make sure you checkout the compensation for your experience and geographic location https://about.gitlab.com/jobs/developer/#compensation . This may bite you in the later stages of the interview. If you look at the extremes, the salary you would get in Luanda, Angola is 1500% more than what you get if you were in Valenzuela, Philippines.

I live in Valenzuela, Philippines and can attest that the cost of life is very cheap here, I am not surprised that the compensation is lower. What I wonder is what happens if you get hired while working from the Philippines and then move to a more expensive city like New York, or vice-versa. Will GitLab change the salary automatically? Because one could easily create a bank account in the US and live in a cheap count…

If you relocate, then yes, that affects compensation. This is described in more detail on https://about.gitlab.com/handbook/people-operations/#relocat...

Exempting fresh-out-of college students from requirements that apply to others seems like straight-up bullshit to me. Either those requirements are flexible, or they aren't.
