Here in the UK I can add: assisted suicide, many sexual activities particularly on camera (even between very enthusiastic participants), driving in a vehicle on the public highway without a seatbelt, working for under the minimum wage, corporal punishment and polygamy.

It's a little worrying that people will be upset by something that didn't happen to them and throw it all away without a second thought.

There was an op-Ed in the New York Times the other day about a former UN bureaucrat saying the UN is broken and needs reform, and the astounding reader reaction was essentially to burn it down and start fresh.

I don't think many programmers here would seriously advocate the same approach with large systems.

Ummm... This is a forum for people interested in startups, which are defined more as "start fresh, then use it to burn down the old thing." Not exactly the same thing, but offend driven by the same sentiment.

If your Windows EULA said "Microsoft can take any of your property" they still can't steal from you just because you agreed to it.

It would no longer be stealing because you agreed to it. This is why repossession is legal.

Such a contract would likely be ruled unconscionable (invalid) if anyone challenged it. I don't think there's a judge in the country that could be convinced that any piece of code is good enough consideration for random tangible property.

Yes the sentiment is the same, but it takes little historical understanding to see how tearing down is always easier and more exciting than building up.

What works at a startup often can't work at a big company. Or a university. Or a government. You have to work with the system you have. For those that leave angellist without a second thought, what are your alternatives? LinkedIn?

Why e-mail the employer at all? I'm bewildered. This is terrible. If I add a project to my AngelList profile and it e-mails my employer, it will send one signal and only one signal: I'm looking for another job.

Why the heck does AngelList think this is a good idea? If the choice is between (a) not using AngelList, and (b) having an uncomfortable conversation with my bosses about an e-mail they received, then sorry, I'm going with (a).
