I had a sorta different reaction. I thought, it'd be amazing if everyone at Facebook had the option to take two months off for paternity leave and prioritize family over business without worrying about losing their job or good favor with their supervisor.
Then prepare to be amazed, because they actually have four months paid paternity leave.
To be honest, compared to Germany that is not a good news. In Germany, you can have this up to 36 months (3 years) for both parants and your employer can't send you a notice to quit. So, to be honest, I have to laugh at Zuck. Or say it another way: I think, he does not value his kids. I am a shamed of him.

Why only 3 years? Perhaps the corporation should have to pay for all 18 years while the child is being reared. Shame on Germany for not valuing the kids!

It's called savings. Instead of asking for paid leave, you can ask for a higher salary, and then save that extra money, which pays for your leave.
I'm getting savings built back up again, and I can afford to miss a few paychecks now, but not at the 6 month level I had a couple of years back. I'll get there again.

Sonny Jim, welcome to America, where paternity leave is not guaranteed and rarely granted. Mark Zuckerberg taking two full months of paternity leave is actually pretty progressive for us. Learn how to context, guy.
About 17% of Americans live in states with family/paternity leave. Zuckerberg's state of California being the first at 6 weeks leave. It's not that progressive. You'll find more and more states passing family leave laws in the next decade (though I would much prefer something at the federal level besides unpaid job protection).

This is probably going to get me voted down, but maybe...just maybe ...you shouldn't be having kids if the only job you can get is McDonalds or Yum! Brands (i.e., Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, etc.). If you choose to have a child when your resources are that limited, your non-paternity leave is going to be among the least of the child's problems.

Nice, if you have enough savings to do it. Please don't forget that not everyone is fortunate enough to have enough savings to be able to miss three months worth of paychecks. I did, until I bought a house, sold it, and bought another in the course of a year due to escaping from a horrible job.
