#2I don't understand how this is better than SmartThings.
A SmartThings hub is $99 and a single multi-sensor is an additional $49. For these two things, you can be notified of open/close, temperature, activity. You also have the building blocks to add any ZWave or Zigbee devices.
Their app is easy to use, has open APIs, etc.
