I can find any number of counterexamples that an AI fails and an intelligent agent would get right. What thermometer of intelligence do we have except the degree to which responses congrue with reality?

Is there no sign we'll ever get strong AI? Then, we need to dumb it down and call it a post-singularity AI! Is that not coming any time soon, then how about an even simpler artificial general intelligence? Is that still not playing out? Than maybe all we need is Back Propagation‽
