I have never heard of this parable https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_old_man_lost_his_horse, but I came to comment the same thing.
In Yogic teachings there is the idea that it is impossible to know whether any given event is a good thing or a bad thing, and the conclusion and perspective will often constantly change over time.
