Haha! I was going to comment the same, especially on:

Feels so much like "Action" Jack Barker's demise, confined to a small desk on a datacenter...

Rings to me like what Gavin Belson used to do to underperforming staff, he would keep then on a roof, permanently unassigned to any team. Some form of punishment worst than getting outright sacked.
