I'm hiring for Customer Success Engineers and found it hard to find people who have technical skills and have experience/enjoy/are good at working with customers. Where do those people hang out?

#3Look for people that have previously run one-person SaaS companies. Speaking from experience, you have no choice but to get good at working with customers when there's no one else to do it for you.

#5Check for people who had customer support experience or business analyst experience. I happen to be one and I can tell that those experience is very useful in my current work.

#7I do it. Customers are the fan base for engineering. I've set up surveys and public chat rooms just to hear them. They're what keep me motivated.
It's a common theme with startups. I'd say they're common with YC backed startups, because of the whole "do things that don't scale" philosophy. YC fans tend to hang around HN, so I suppose you're in the right place?

#8I’ve sent the title “Solutions Architect” at some enterprise product companies. They pair with sales to work closely with customers to design how the product will solve the customers problems.
Sales engineers fill a similar role. But they seem to be more focused on earlier prototypes to wow the customer during sales.
A lot of developers in “professional services” at product companies see and end to end implementation all the way through.
There’s also specialist software consultants, consulting usually requires a broad set of customer relation skills.
