Of course, those visions are particularly excessive, and mostly because of my geographical situation: I am from Venezuela.
This last semester, I managed to get my first contract as a software developer after 6 years of trying it. I'm still working with the startup (it's a Spanish ERP SaaS for Chinese manufacturers in Spain). However, because I am just an remote contractor, I don't have much accountability in the project. Just they keep working with me because my work seems to surpass farther their expectancy in comparison with what I charge. My commission as a contractor is between $600 and $1200 ($800 in average), which I know it's hurting the value of fellow developers. But heck, it was the first opportunity where someone has ever had the interest to interview me. I didn't want to lose the opportunity to make five times what a bachelor in computer science here could ever make in a Venezuelan company.
However, I really don't expect to keep on this plateau. But I don't know what the next step should look like...
It's obvious that escaping this country (that I really don't hope anything from) might be a requirement to actually start pursuing some kind of financial freedom alike as the free determination to build things which are useful. But with no degree, getting a visa would become difficult.
What would you think of someone like me, trying to achieve what I meant? What would be your action if you were in my position?
