.ML TLD Outage

Woke up to clients reporting issues this morning hitting our service triton.ml

After a lot of digging we learned that it was DNS issues affecting our site.

Then we learned it's the whole .ML domain on Google DNS 8.8.8.8

"dig @8.8.8.8 google.ml" fails.

For those unaware, .ml is the TLD for Mali, and you can get a domain for free from https://www.freenom.com/

FWIW, it works for me on 1.1.1.1 DNS

Also looks like machine learning which is why we chose it. Couldn't imagine it ever becoming an issue like today.

Wow, this is unbelievably specific.

We were facing the exact same issue this morning with our own .ml domain - one of our engineers was accessing it no problem from 1.1.1.1 but another couldn't see it with 8.8.8.8. After a couple hours of trying to figure it out we figured it was just some configuration we botched, somehow, with Google but _Google having an outage_ makes a lot more sense.

My .ml domain also fails randomly, and .ga site obtained from freenom does not have this dns resolving problem.
