The space that the company will occupy will be more than 20 hectares.
The negotiations began at the beginning of the current government of Tabaré Vázquez and deepened a little more than two years ago during a trip by the then Minister of Industry Carolina Cosse to the United States, where he visited Google's headquarters. From there and after several contacts between the company and Uruguayan authorities, the possible installation of a headquarters in Uruguay began to be negotiated, under a confidentiality contract.
On October 11, the Government of Canelones issued a resolution granting feasibility of expanding the Free Zone "Science Park", incorporating an additional area of 29 hectares and 2,372 square meters, which is the space where the center will be built.
The company has 13 data centers: six in the United States, three in Europe, three in Asia and one in Latin America, in Chile.
