I absolutely love how the left becomes a fan of states rights on immigration, but pretends it isn't a challenge to Roe v Wade.

The U.S. doesn't have an immigration problem. It has a political problem where a faction of nativist nationalists has seized political power.

Why did they seize power? Because they were the only ones pointing out the economic collapse of rural and interior America. Liberals should have been in front of this issue but they ignored it, preferring to hide in coastal urban bubbles and navel gaze. So they opened the door to a bunch of demagogues. Immigration may not be a major cause of these problems but it makes a convenient scapegoat.

Going to 'Diet USA' is likely more seamless and convenient. I lived in Canada for several years and I honestly think that's a good description for it, you cannot really tell whether you are in Michigan or Ontario if you don't look at the road signs.

I'm a Canadian who lived and worked in the US for six years, and my impression on returning home is that Canada is the country you'd get if you took the U.S. and removed the extremes of wealth and poverty.

I don't disagree with your analysis. I'm left-leaning in my politics but find myself unwilling to support the Democratic party at all for being politically ineffective, culturally asinine, and for being distressingly corrupt. American politics is in a terrible state right now.
