You are mixing up 2 things. Paul Karason had a syndrome called 'argyria' from dietary supplements. The article you link mentions that. The Fugate family has the methemoglobinemia condition. They can be 'cured' with methylene blue. The former could not.
Yep, you're totally right, not sure how I missed that. The article makes mention of the Fugates and some other folks with the condition.

On mobile (Android), a few times an ad covered half the screen and couldn't be closed... I had to reload the page.
