Where are the studies that show grass fed red meat is bad for your health? All studies I've seen concluding red meat is a health concern are using grain finished beef.

There are studies e.g. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/sacn-iron-and-hea... The vast majority of beef cattle in the UK are fed grass from pasture most of the year, then hay/silage over winter when there isn't much grass. The conclusion was the same; red meat isn't great for you, at least in significant quantities (90g+ a day).

That study doesn’t say what you think it says. Show me one single study that finds an actual link between red meat consumption and bad health outcomes... Not some epidemiological bullshit - a real study with real findings.

like elephants? giraffes? Hippos? I'm not a vegetarian but I can think of lots of large herbivores.

Elephants spend 12-18 hours a day eating,[1] compared to 68 minutes on average for an American human.[2] Is that what you want for me and your children? [1] http://www.nationalelephantcenter.org/learn/#:~:text=Since%2... . [2] https://www.foodnetwork.com/fn-dish/news/2015/07/guess-how-m...

Yet vegetarians don’t eat for 12-18 hours a day. You do know they already exist?

For me personally, the Beyond burger was wholly unsatisfying. I much prefer veggie burgers that don't bother pretending to be meat, such as the ones Trader Joe's sells frozen. In fact, those have become my standard late-night meal. (As someone who used to be a "meat with every single meal" kind of guy.)

You entirely missed the context of that quote, which was preceded by "vegan meat replacements today, meat grown from cells tomorrow." "Cell-grown meat" isn't what Beyond or Impossible are doing - what they are doing is "vegan meat replacements," replicating the taste of meat using vegetable sources. Neither company is trying to grow real meat from cell cultures in a lab, which is what you're talking about.

Oh wow, I was confusing them with another company. Thank you for the clarification.

As far as I know cell grown meat is not quite a viable product yet (hence the "tomorrow,") but there are many companies and organizations researching the topic to try to make it a reality. In contrast, both Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods are existing commercial products that are mass produced and widely available in grocery stores and restaurants.

Are you thinking of Eat Just?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eat_Just

>In December 2020 its lab-grown chicken became the first lab-grown meat to receive regulatory approval in Singapore. Shortly thereafter, Eat Just's cultured meat was sold to diners at the Singapore restaurant "1880", making it the "world's first commercial sale of cell-cultured meat".

I think either beats any frozen beef that gets served at a cheap fast-food joints while neither comes close to beating fresh, high-quality beef. They can take over the entire bottom of the market which is probably the most unwholesome for the environment.

Speak for yourself. Nothing can beat an oily, greasy In N Out beef burger with processed American "Cheese" on top of something that barely resembles beef, but you can't say it isn't the best thing you've ever tasted!

I never liked In N Out myself. Not even in comparison to other fast food, nevermind "the best thing I've ever tasted," that's laughable. I'd rather have a double from Wendy's and MUCH rather have something like Five Guys or Shake Shack.

I tried the one from Burger King and was very off-put by the flavor. Of course I don't like beats too much either... so maybe that's why I found the flavors unpleasant. JM2C

At least in the US Burger King does not sell Beyond Burger made by Beyond Meat, they sell the Impossible Burger made by Impossible Foods. They are two different products from two different companies.

Note conversion of C02 into methane. If methane has bigger effect than the same amount of coal within C02 then your argument fails. > While CO2 persists in the atmosphere for centuries, or even millennia, methane warms the planet on steroids for a decade or two before decaying to CO2. > In those short decades, methane warms the planet by 86 times as much as CO2, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Cha…

A somewhat surprising corollary: if you have methane and you can burn it, it's better to do that than vent it directly. (Of course, better still to leave it in the ground, if that's where your methane is coming from...)

Natural gas burns cleanly and is very effective at heating homes and water. While there are problems with leakage, it's a huge step up from burning coal & oil.

Aside from the questionable source laid out here, the statement that: > Meat provides far more nutritional value than any plant... ...is pure nonsense. Vitamins, minerals, fiber. Considering you can't get any fiber from meat is just the start of how biased some have been influenced by misinformation.

Fibre isn't a nutrient though. It's waste. We have a very low capability to ferment it verses other apes.

Please stop spreading misinformation and maybe educate yourself on the need for fiber in a healthy diet [0].
