Uh... https://www.wsj.com/articles/samsung-q4-earnings-report-2022... > South Korean giant saw operating profit drop 69%, hit by falling sales of chips and smartphones as demand for gadgets languishes
The point is that this is a cliched lazy trolling point by Android users. iPhones cost more than the cheapest tier of Android devices but once you’re out of that tier the prices are pretty similar, and relatively few people are buying the top-end devices of either variety. It’s also incomplete because iPhones are much faster and historically have been supported years longer: if you had $200 for a phone, buying an iPh…

Yeah, but not really much applications on it. Even something ubiquitous like Dropbox won't work on ARM. At least that's my experience with Windows 11 on ARM which I am using for testing.
It’s amazing that MS, despite its vast resources, hasn’t managed to improve this situation. Tiny, beleaguered NeXT had fat binaries for 4 architectures. Surely Redmond could solve this.
Simple Win32 applications are working fine, they will get emulated. I only don't understand why is it necessary to have GUI blurred when the application is emulated. You can see that even parts of the core windows dialogs are getting emulated due to this blurred GUI.
Apps like Dropbox, will recognize that you are installing them on ARM and will go just NOPE, not supported.

#54$1500 phones might be an issue.

It's a lie, used to fool investors into Apple FUD. How ironic and convenient to use this excuse for this qtr.
So there’s been a worldwide supply chain disruption with electronics but you think Apple is making it up. COVID shutdown a lot of China’s manufacturing—guess where high end iPhones are made…

The OP only said that it's probably due to $1500 phones. Nothing about iOS vs Android. The comment under that made that argument. Samsung phones are also at that wild pricing and Samsung is also seeing a drop in sales. They're all in the same boat.

the workers dont benefit from fast food picking up, just the owners, so fast food employees aren't buying iphones on the bet that its a fast food pick up time.
I worked at McDonald’s through one recession (early 90s) and it…gets busy. At least, fast food workers aren’t in danger of getting laid off during a recession (their business counter cycle’s recessions). See https://m.investing.com/analysis/chart-of-the-day-why-mcdona...

less danger in lay offs doesn't matter with inflation pushing up rents, food costs, transportation costs, etc. The issue isn't the risk of lay offs, its that they already didn't make much money and now everything is more expensive. The $1000-1500 phone goes from 'expensive luxury' to 'a financial threat for little reason' when there are cheaper alternatives.

I mean this is more-less unwillingness of developers to compile for ARM. Look at Notepad++, Python 3 or VSCode, there are ARM version which works exactly same. Simple Win32 applications are working fine, they will get emulated. I only don't understand why is it necessary to have GUI blurred when the application is emulated.
