Tone-deaf. The last thing I want is AI deciding into which column of my start menu I’d like my Ads crammed. How about Microsoft design an OS that isn’t actively user-hostile and then, maybe, _maybe_ bake in some AI around that?

See the hellish naming and branding they've done with the .NET ecosystem... It is so convoluted, even people actively developing on their stacks would have and issue figuring out if they are downloading the right stuff.

Microsoft appearingly random naming conventions make me want to actively avoid using their products because I know the web searches will be heavily polluted.

I thought big companies like this would have some sort of internal committee that decides if a new products branding makes it easier for customers to understand what the product is and where it fits in their offerings.

Unless it requires a kernel level anti cheat. I don't play those games but if someone does, it's a thing they should know.

helldivers 2 has one and it still works. afaik the anti cheat developer has to explicitly disallow linux users, and at that point its not really a linux issue anymore (but still good to know)

What there are still people who don't install Voidtools' Everything on all Windows PCs and assign it a global shortcut? Since I have it I don't even bother organizing stuff

Does anyone know of a similar tool for macOS? I'd gotten really comfortable with a Ctrl+Alt+S binding on Windows for Everything and miss it these days on macOS.

This feels like classic Microsoft. Put some great marketing out there. , claim the victory and deliver the actual product months from now. This puts any other vendor or company in a bad place with investors and the public.

You have to love it. Shrewd as hell.
