What is confusing here is Why would Greg have agreed to the language in the press release (that he would be staying in the company and report to the CEO) only to resign 1 hour later. Surely the press release would not have contained that information without the his agreement that he would be staying.

Ha Most people don’t know how slipshod these things go. Succession had it right when people were always fighting over the PR release trying to change each others statements.

I mean, I still wonder though if they really only need 3 ppl fully on board to effectively take the entire company. Vote #1, oust Sam, 3/5 vote YES. Sam is out, now the vote is "Demote Greg", 3/4 vote YES, Greg is demoted and quits. Now, there could be one "dissenter" and it would be easy to vote them out too. Surely there's some protection against that?

You’re missing the point. Raising awareness of the scale of this theft is aimed at swaying public opinion.

That way, legitimate machine learning companies can thrive and research for ai can continue without the nuisance.

Incidentally forums are filling up with horror stories from people working at or interviewing with openai, in spite of their paid trolls spamming forums left and right and reporting reddit posts to suppress people. Perhaps the bubble has burst.

Openai has done more harm to ai than any other company.

The cat’s out of the bag.

Self-dealing like that really is, not saying I see any reason to suspect its that and not something else, but, yeah, doing that and cocncealing it absolutely would be a reason for both firing him and making the statement made. Unless Brockman was involved, though, firing Brockman doesn't really make sense.

Yeah, looking at the self-dealing going on with WeWork and Adam Neumann, it's not that.
