You're probably right, but the Android market has it's marketplace pressures just like PC, and while I don't know the margins, I imagine Apple is making good margins on Macs. It seems there IS a market for high end androids, but not for PCs, which really is an indictment of mainly Windows but also desktop Linux.
I think it is more about the market size. Only a small part of population needs or wants PCs at all, so the base for marketing the high end is limited. But almost everybody needs a phone, so the base for marketing of pricey phones is many times bigger.
