Yes but since Canada is also initiating new tariffs (they've had existing ones for specific products and industries already) so anything said here applies to Canada as well. For example Canadian tariffs increase prices and their retaliatory tariffs also reduce demand for Canadian products leading to job losses.

Correct. But Canada didn't start this trade war, all it can do is respond to it.

And the correct way to respond to a bully, fraud, and liar is tit-for-tat. Tax his exports, tax your irreplaceable exports. Tax and block his digital and media services.

The us is closer to a dictatorship than at any time in the recent past. Ruling by executive order is rather close to ruling by decree and neither congress or the scotus care.

The current Admin is hostile to neoliberalism, globalism, the maritime order, sole superpower, international comity, etc.

We've been heading towards a multi-polar world order for a while. It is what it is.

The current Admin is speed running the transition. There is no theory, workdview, vision for whatever comes next. Or how to get there. Just cronyism and patronage.

The prior Admin, whatever its faults, had a plan for navigating the transition, unwinding neoliberalism, to invest in domestic capacity and supply chains. (And it was working.)

But now the plan is calvinball.

Claude built the site, it's obvious from the style. Which is to say that anybody with a $200 subscription and access to Namecheap and Netlify could have built the site in one hour flat. I haven't personally seen it on HN but it has been an issue at least since the beginning of tariffs, and there's significant rules in the original NAFTA agreement to try and curb it. Where does it say "it's pretty easy" to do this via Canada? Canada isn't even mentioned in your source. Only Asian countries are. Please stop repeating as fact nonsense you vaguely half-remember hearing somewhere. It's very Trumpian. The whole world isn't out to get you.

I'm not saying trans-shipping doesn't happen. I'm sure it does. But your framing was entirely baseless.
