Can you give more details about what you did?

First thing I did was just get out of the house and go to the gym. I work remotely, it became a trap where I spent all my free time sitting in front of the computer. Prioritizing at least an hour a day 5x a week was huge. I just made the time. I did that for about 2 years with good results. I was 240lbs. I looked big at 6’1 but had lots of fat. I snored all night long, affecting my wife’s sleep as well. About 1 year…

How do you get the Glp-1 now?

There was another recent study that made the front page of HN (would have to search to find it) that found two "peaks" of aging, at 44 and 60. As someone in my late 40s, I certainly identified with that. I was in fairly good shape and feel like, despite some grays and some crows feet, my body was relatively the same from my early 20s to my early 40s. 44 really did hit me like a ton of bricks though - working out got…

I'm 30. I feel 70. No clue why. I take vitamin supplements, I exercise, I try to sleep, I had basic blood test. Nothing.

Make sure to test you thyroid hormone levels

Try a keto or even better a carnivore diet. It has been transformative for quite a few people. It doesn't work for all but it is a form of elimination diet, and at least for me, most plants cause me substantial gut & inflammation issues. There's a lot of dogma around "eat plants to feel better", but for some it's the opposite. My guts have completly healed from heavy issues after switching to 99% animal sourced diet(…

I like keto as well but would suggest more veggies and not much meat. There’s other protein choices like nuts, tofu, tempeh, hemp seeds, eggs, etc. Definitely cut sugar down to near nothing.

Getting some sun and exercise in the morning helps my mood a lot. Might help.

I've been where you're at, and speaking frankly, if you don't make some changes, it'll only get worse. It sounds like you're tinkering at the edges but that can only get you so far. Ramen, bacon, beer, cola, weed... Maybe cut back or eliminate those for a few weeks and see how you feel? It's obviously way easier said than done but I can almost guarantee that cleaner living will bring back some of the lost energy, and…

Seems like I'm doing the journey the other way around. I don't see much point in maintaining healthy lifestyle if the effort of doing so is higher than the reward. If I'm tired either way, then why bother.

What you wrote sounds like one extreme to the other. There are alternatives to beer and ramen that don't require extensive cooking. If you really can't muster any motivation at least check the canned food section at the grocery store and consider pairing with a rice cooker.

From your other comment the root cause definitely sounds psychological. I'll note that negative health consequences will only exacerbate that if and when they eventually start to accumulate.

Combinatorics can make things astronomically unlikely. Imagine the "aging program" bugs out 1 in 100 times, a pretty high failure rate. However, imagine the program runs in 10 systems in the body, and success in any one of these systems is enough to age and kill you. The body is quite fragile after all. If this were the case, then in order to not age at all, a person would need not just a 1/100 event to occur, but a…

Serious question. There are biblical accounts of people living hundreds of years. For people who like to find scientific explanations for biblical stories, is this plausible?

No, because the underlying mechanism of intentional aging (as opposed to incidental) isn't plausible. The top level comment is pure fantasy.

There's extensive scientific research on the subject of aging if you care to sink time into reading about it.

Consider one of the many examples of embedded systems that suffered from subtle bugs that were dependent on environmental factors after they were left running for too long. The official manufacturer provided solution was to reboot (ie there is no solution). Now imagine someone in a comment section somewhere proposes the idea that these bugs are actually intentional program features. That's the scientific level this discussion is at.

Because the whole system is quite resilient and self-repairing, and probably requires a great deal of consistency between the various genes? Aging is quite fundamental to life, and a "bug" in that area would almost certainly cause severe problems in other areas, probably death. Cancer might be an example. And systems of many components tend to narrow the standard deviation of the composite. But that's just guessing.…

aging doesn't seem fundamental to life to me. There is known complex life that doesn't age. I expect age is a huge driver of evolution in many cases so it makes sense that most life has it.

You have that backwards. In many cases aging hasn't noticably impeded evolution so it hasn't been selected against.

You can order it online from a variety of peptide sites.

Here is a site that tests and compares vendor purity that to the best of my knowledge is legit. I won’t recommend a particular vendor but this will get you started.

Same here. Started lifting weights around the same age. I am stronger than I have ever been. I also run and so far I am able to keep improving my 10K results over the last decade. Probably these aren't my best ever but there is no barrier that I can feel other than putting in the training volume.

Its incredible isn't it? There is almost no point at which one just has to give up and say "Well I guess this is my life now". The body always responds positively to exercise and weight lifting.

Its happy doing what its designed to do

You misunderstood what I said. I'm saying not aging does clearly impede evolution. This is not some exotic idea, it's be brought forth before: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1558-5646....
