What do you mean by the Gell Mann part? The output from this tool may be bad, but AI music in general is extremely good. My playlist is largely "AI artists" at this point and they're really good, to the point where if you look them up online, it's mostly people being finding out they're AI and being sad about it (I also felt this - would love to see them live, but they're not even real).

I have found that every Ai music model I have tried (tried about 6 of them) can not for the life of it generate any good ambient music or like sad non upbeat music. They all try to revert to some sort of uptempo or beat drop of some sort. They can't just "chill out" so to speak

definitely agreed on ambient music, but not on sad music. suno v5 can do that all day

I just built a really cool synth using this tool just sitting on my couch casually checking this out. You can blend waves together and change their frequencies to create drones.

This is really sweet as a tool for creating ways to create music. Its a shame you can just prompt -> finished project when its so easy for anyone to create their own music with the right tools and motivation.

Much more common than you think, and zero rational reason for it not to be the case since suno v5.

Music, like all art, is a human expression. AI has no desires, it feels nothing, it believes in nothing, thus it has nothing to express. It may imitate music, but it's not music.

Would you consider a beautiful sunset as art? is the value of music found in the source or the listener? I argue it is only the listener. The source is irrelevant. That is surely the case for me, and I dont think I'm unhinged or insane. I have a strong feeling I am not a minority in this regard.

Pythagoras argued that music is essentially number and proportion. If beauty is found in the geometry of sound, then the "belief" of the architect is secondary to the elegance of the structure.

If I were a PM at Google trying to connect those two products, the far more obvious approach is the end of the creation pipeline having an "Upload to YouTube Music" button.

YouTube already hosts significant factories of programmatically generated music; just look for Creators with the 3-hour or 10-hour or livestreams. For YouTube Creators, and also for Photos editors (that's everyone with an unrestricted Workspaces account), they provide a menu of background music that is "royalty-free" and so you can attach it to a montage or your own videos, to avoid awkward silences, or set the mood to vaguely sorta what you were hoping for.

So it's an evolutionary step in my view, rather than a revolution.
