It’s sounds dystopian but I want a complete crackdown of this trump nonsense. I don’t want my kids to grow up with these idiots nor do I want Trumpism ever to be anywhere near my family. Trump has destroyed America. Ban him from every platform.

It sounds dystopian because it is! Shame on you all!

There's an amusing irony in the downvotes in this thread. The champions of free-speech angry that Apple might ban a platform for speech that ultimately led to an attempted insurrection? These champions of free speech seem to be agressively trying to silence anybody happy about this news.

You're proposing to remove a very large, very alienated group's last public channel to express themselves peacefully. This risks further escalation. This is compounded with the stark contrast to how the protests were handled this summer.

people are straight up calling for murder on that website, it's insane. There's no negotiating. "Let me call for violence on the internet, or I'll go out and actually shoot someone" is nuts. That's not someone you negotiate with, that's a person that belongs into a mental ward. Authority does not need to back down because someone threatens terrorism. And yes before other events are invoked, that goes for all form of violence advocacy no matter from which group.

In what way has he destroyed America?

If anything has it’s people becoming less tolerant of those with political opinions that differ from their own.

Suddenly half the population is realizing the cons of centralized platforms. Curious if this moment sparks renewed interest in decentralized tech of yesteryear ie the good ol world wide web.

Are they though? Half the people here come off as oblivious to the problem.

I think so. I think we will see more investment in progressive web apps for mobile.

I think more students need to study how the Nazis came to power; while violent attempts were made (Beer Hall Putsch) and low level political violence between various political factions, the Nazis did not gain power through those acts. Rather a slow burn, leveraging the democratic process in the Wiemar Republic. Violence now, but these people might eventually get it together and use the democratic political process to their advantage.

Unfortunately, I think this is only the beginning. The Trump era was just a warm-up.
