This is a fun idea, and I hope it takes off, but I already noticed some spammy sites, and reporting them isn't easy (it requires a PR). I understand that adding a site requires a PR to have some barrier to entry, but reporting should probably be more accessible.

Wondering which sites you saw that are spammy, as I consume this 2-3 times a day pretty much every day and have not noticed any. In any case submitting a PR to remove them should not be as burdensome.

You are describing StumbleUpon and similar sites.

Kagi, Proton, NextDNS, 1Blocker. My internet experience has gotten a lot less free (as in beer), but I’m totally fine with that.

To be fair, StumbleUpon shut down half a decade ago and had vanished from the public consciousness far before that.

The key was it never was free, it’s just you couldn’t see what you were trading for it. I’d much rather do my transactions above the table than behind my back.

You can only submit a site thru a megacorporate proprietary service? Why is Microsoft GitHub involved when talking about “small web”--it is the opposite of small & indie + requires ToS & privacy concerns around accounts with that service (not to mention those blocked by US sanctions).
