Not Amazon Basics, but this basically already exists under a number of different brands. They seem to be silicon instead of a sponge, though.

Have you used it? It seems like if this is as good as they claim it would be well known by now. I’m wondering what the catch is?

The old one looked like a torture device but the sponge one seems much more reasonable. I am still curious I've never found reviews from a lab.
correct. It was very hard to insert into your mouth to the point where I gave up and used a toothbrush.

#16The gumline and immediately under the gum line needs to be cleaned. Also tatar buildup and food particls on tooth carries needs attention. This is a joke product.
Use h2o2 as mouth wash mixed with 75% water.

Silicone is not "100%" recyclable. With every recycle it loses more and more structural integrity. I am 100% sure that they are using 100% virgin silicone here and they're not using recycles in their formula, because as they probably know, silicone isn't 100% recyclable.

Also what about mineral buildup from hard water? Surely the microbes…
They say a sponge has an estimated effective lifespan of two months, so I don’t think hard water should cause issues over that timespan.
Also: the solubility of calcium carbonate goes down with increased temperature. Which is why your kettle gets covered in scale, while your toilet and sink generally don't.
Since the brushing process happens at a roughly constant temperature, this is going to behave more like a sink than any appliance that heats cold water and puts out hot.
I wouldn't worry about it if I were to try this. The fact that sponges turn gross in short order would be much higher up my list of reasons to be concerned.
