#12I have a good system:
Use Folders on Google docs. I have files and folders about literally everything. And Google docs is pretty comprehensive in terms of being able to create TODO lists and everything.
Everything I commit to doing in my life is worth writing about. For example, I've been learning German for a long time, and keep a log of what I do, and new action items or things I need to improve next.
Docs is accessible everywhere and easy to use.
I believe that for this, you don't want a tool that offers too much functionality, they take out the pleasure of writing things down.
While writing things down, I learn a lot. My ideas are organised. I don't want a tool that gets in the way by showing me how many TODOS I have, stats or any pointless thing, or that it looks gorgeous. I want something functional, so my focus is to organize myself.
I also keep my finances organized in Google sheets, as you can run scripts on it (even regular scripts, to create aggregate data).
It is incredible how much one can do if they explore the full capabilities of those simple tools, instead of looking for a shiny thing that can do for themselves.

#14People have mentioned Joplin, obsidian, logseq (a knowledge base) and even Apple Notes (there's a way to import enex, IIRC) I am dumping the Evernote subscription in the fall, so this is a big deal, though I'm not in a rush because enex import is common. I've been using Evernote as a "write only" database. The ability to email articles to it is the main feature I've used, though I actually did this with procmail many…
If you need the ability to import articles into Joplin, there's a web clipper addon that will take the page and make its content into a note.

#15Most of the usual names will popup in the thread, like joplin and obsidian,etc.. But to my surprise Apple Notes has a very good enex import. It was the only program that kept the correct formatting of my notes, screenshots,etc.
The only problem is the lock-in in the Apple ecosystem. And for work I have a Windows laptop. Maybe one day icloud.com will be good enough to be an “iOS” in the browser experience.

#17I just dump everything into a bunch of .md files and open the folder on sublime text. Of course, I deal mostly in text content. The search is pretty good, so it works for me.
As you can see, I'm not a sofisticated person.

#18I've been using Notion.so for a couple years now and am mostly really happy with it. Easy to collaborate with others and access everything from any device. Have had annoying issues logging in on Android though.
If I wanted more control over my data, the next thing I'd try is obsidian
