You should love Bush too if you love Obama so much. I don't know what a 'gubmint' is, but I have been speaking against the bush/obama dynasty since probably before you knew conjugation.

Measuring a result of several variables, and claiming to measure only one without proper control tests. You know, science.

The article's only measurements are of measure of 'economic output' and workers effort. These are of course a result of not just productivity provided by automation, but the distribution of this benefit across the peoples being measured. This is easily accounted for if one factors in the increase in elitist centralization of power and economic prowess that offsets the advances in productivity due to automation. A more complete scientific analysis would include such factors to tell a more complete picture.

Ignoring politics is the exact reason the author has trouble discerning a complete reality. When measuring society at large, politics is not a variable that can simply be ignored.

Author has things reversed. Automation is affecting jobs with higher wages and higher productivity first, turning those markets into winner take all or eliminating labor altogether. The remaining workers are forced to crowd into lower productivity jobs and work longer hours for lower wages to make ends meet. Automation appears to cause lower overall productivity, but the actual effect will be quite obvious when the cost of automation is low enough that it comes for all the low wage workers.

Furthermore, precedent would indicate quite a different policy.

But the most interesting part comes here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9362589 where you say I am being insulting by requesting people leave anti-science comments outside of hacker news. Is it then acceptable for you to tell me to leave politics off this site? It seems to me like one of these categories is more appropriate for this site; not because I think science is awesome, but because that seems to be generally how the rest of HN is run.

I think most people here agree science rocks, and while there might be some that hate politics, I don't think in any way that is comparable to the size of people who hate science.

Additionally there's a whole slew of degenerate comments around here that you feel are perfectly acceptable.

"Please avoid introducing classic flamewar topics unless you have something genuinely new to say about them" more than covers a comment like "Obama stealing [...] for himself and his crony friends".

Re the thread from 107 days ago, calling someone or their comments "anti-science", telling them they're not rational and are lying to themselves: all such things break the guidelines that ask you to be civil and not to call names.
