Exactly. If you want to be a privacy-focused competitor to reddit you can't count on users flocking to the service because of your ethics (unfortunately). Instead you have to focus on being the best experience for the user, and in addition be privacy-focused.

If it's harder to user your service or if it's a less satisfying experience, I'm not going to use your service.

Fancy animation? It's a JavaScript animation, in the age of CSS animation.

I use Ghostery and I checked out Frizbee before your comment and I didn't see anything from Facebook.

No censorship, you say. Suppose I were to write a script that text-encodes a file and splits it up among a bunch of posts, and another that reverses the process, like the Usenet binary tools. Now suppose someone uses this to leak a highly-anticipated new album. You receive a DMCA request quickly followed by a strongly-worded letter from a Hollywood lawyer instructing you to take down the offending posts or face legal action. What do you do?

("Contact us" is broken, otherwise I'd send this privately, but since the service is just in testing: you should probably use XSRF tokens for voting.)

When I see the combination of "reddit alternative" and "no censorship", I see yet another attempt at creating a free haven for any kind of racist, sexist and generally bigoted abuse. Which will always fail because a) that free haven already exists and called "the internet" and b) the target audience only thrive in places like Reddit, where they can troll, provoke, hurt and yet portray themselves as the oppressed vict…

It's also extremely vulnerable to a legal challenge. If you don't take down copyright violations, child pornography, dox, stolen information, hate speech, etc. then you're in for a fun ride with the courts.

I don't see why an IP needs to be stored anyway - Identity can be proved using other methods, like PGP signatures and "tripcodes" used by 4chan, 8chan etc.

Copyright you can get away with.. what about child pornography? That's something that'll not only get you in big trouble, but your site can be secretly filtered and disappear from the Internet in various countries (such as the United Kingdom).

4chan has survived because of censorship. You know the "mods are asleep, post " meme? That came from people posting high-resolution images of things which had child pornography hidden in them steganographically.
