The logistics of doing an unplanned online launch are pretty large, and launching in lots of different markets adds a lot of complexity (legal issues, customer support issues in multiple languages, etc.). Most people, even outside the US, will want to see the movie at the same time, to engage in online discussion about the movie. If they can't buy it, they will find another ways.
