Come on. Who can't see how this one will end? Way to go Russia. Thanks for killing off the human species.

Note that this is the "lizard sex" satellite, not the "lizards being exposed to experimental forms of gamma radiation" satellite. As far as we know, Russia still has that one safely under control.

For now...

Did anyone else have to re-read the title a few times?

Yup. I'm done. If that's a hint of what's coming today (and I haven't even started my coffee) best if I just go home.

Just wait for the Jim Morrison Lizard King jokes to roll in...

Our backup plan to restore life on Earth after a catastrophe?

Well, the hairless monkeys running around right now don't seem to be doing a good job of things, maybe it is time to try something new.

For when the mods inevitably change the original headline (I'm assuming because it's good and entertaining and people like it):

Will the data that it sends still be useful? How much science is jeopardized by not being able to send commands to it?

At the moment, it's working as its own enclosed terrarium, and sending back science, etc. It's unclear if they're getting the video feeds from inside the cabin still, but probably the biggest bit of science being jeopardized here is the microgravity experiments into semiconductor production. There's another article with more info on the science package here : http://spaceflightnow.com/news/n1407/24fotonm4/
