A lock stops people from randomly walking into your house but anyone who actually cared about getting in would have no trouble.

Every software developer in the world should read Christopher Alexander's A Pattern Language, and learn the relevance of the appearance of security versus actual security. A lock is only as strong as its context. Better lock? Did you upgrade the door frame as well?

Many are bitter about that, myself included. But it was an intellectual property issue, out of Apple's control.[0]

Our dryer, which wasn't very expensive, has loads of options - including to what level of dryness you want clothes done to - there are about 10 levels all the way from "completely dry" to "still a bit damp" (not the terms used).

Shrug. Maybe I'm stuck in the past, but am I the only one not really excited for this kind of thing? Turning lights, air conditioning on and off isn't exactly a huge problem in my life.

Upvoted because I agree with you, but FWIW, I think (hope) that these trivialities are foundational steps for actually interesting automation.
