>>> It's a shame that they had to pick a Bush crony. Another great example of how partisanship and shitty double standards have ruined our country. The fact is, the vote to invade Iraq was a bi-partisan vote: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joint_Resolution_to_Authorize_t... "Introduced in Congress on October 2, 2002, in conjunction with the Administration's proposals,[2][7] H.J.Res. 114 passed the House of Representati…

This is a strawman. When Dropbox appoints Harry Reid to the board, we can talk.

EXACTLY!!! If you're going to accuse someone of "partisan" politics, you must provide a counterexample.

Rice is a well-known villain on the internet. It's not a surprise people will react this way to her.

So your point is that our country is being ruined because people believe Bush and his cronies lead us to war. You believe that they did not lead us to war because both parties, after receiving misinformation from the bush administration, voted in favor of it. See anything wrong with your logic here?

And Bush couldn't have possibly received misinformation too, right?

From say, Condolezza Rice?

My first instinct on seeing the title was "What does someone like this (or Al Gore, or any other politician) have to offer a tech startup?" Then the article makes it more clear: "What’s interesting about bringing Rice onto Dropbox’s board is how normal it feels. Dropbox needs people with international experience to help it at once deal with foreign governments that have blocked its use — China, for example — and as i…

It sounds just like typical PR filling, which is supposed to explain why they brought her on board. Will people really buy into this non-explanation?

Is there a better explanation? I'm sure that it took a lot of effort and money to bring her on board when other candidates are available.

Do any Dropbox alternatives support Mac resource forks? That's the biggest reason I stick with them, as even Google Drive doesn't.

Is there any Mac software that actually uses resource forks these days???

Everything? Aren't file associations on OS X still stored in the resource fork?

I remember trying to move some designers to a NFS share off of a netatalk fileserver and they flipped out when neither they nor their Mac knew what to open files in.

Sooo, will we be seeing a repeat of the Eich-like public outcry? Though I may understand the business rationale for this hire, I certainly wont trust founders, board or anyone else at Dropbox who is OK working with a person that is partially responsible for deaths of thousands(arguably hundreds of thousands) people in the Iraq war based on false premises about "WMD". Oh, and we shouldn't forget about her role in "enh…

I feel just like you but rely on Dropbox so much. What serious alternatives are they? (preferably, non-US-based?)

Wuala is run by LaCie and based in Switzerland.

http://wuala.com/en/

Its servers are in CH, FR and DE.

It encrypts the data on your client before it is uploaded.

The free plan offers 5GB.

Seems every woman who becomes involved in tech becomes a villain on the Internet.

Oh, right, forgot about that. What the fuck is going at Dropbox? How did they even come to the conclusion that this is a good idea? I don't understand the business rationale anymore for Dropbox anymore.

Well she is a prominent figure in America. Just not for a lot of good reasons. The bet is likely that future government business she could bring is larger then the major exodus of people who supported them early on.
