#6There are a lot of valid criticisms you can make about modern financial markets, but claiming that we are using computers to do things better than we did 10 years ago is a bad thing isn't something I'd expect to see here on HN.

As someone who's not too familiar with economics, how is HFT supposed to be good for the economy?
That's all "in principle" - whether the details work out right is a much deeper question.
