#2Email has been the identity backbone for a long time. Persona supports multiple emails. This makes maintaining multiple identities even easier. A great alternative to identity trackers.

Pretty sure it means:
It doesn't have to go through Mozilla's servers; anyone can set up their own instance and work with the other ones.
