#522A Russian warship fired flares at a Danish military helicopter in international waters in the Baltic sea too. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cwn8mjl31p5yo
I don't get what is wrong with this ? Even the U.S. Navy ships fire warning flares at other vessels when they approach close. And the Danish military explicitly said that the helicopter was carrying out a reconnaissance flight "observing the Russian vessel". Do that to the US Navy and you will find yourself the target of a flare too.

The harm is in the cost. Not the actual danger. Or are they going to pay for the damages caused due to lost productivity?
Protests are much less effective if they can just be ignored. At the very least "lost productivity" is a very abstract harm and not something that endangers human lives directly.

It's crazy how much deference is given to farmers compared to every other occupation. If the garbage men started dumping the contents of garbage bags in public places I bet they will not be given a free pass.
You can go a long while without your trash being taken away for you.. you can't go very long without food.

It's almost as if food security is much more important than most other jobs.

We should just build up enough nuclear deterrent to prevent Russia from attacking us. We've been dependent on the US for this but this was also by the US' own design. They didn't want many countries to have nukes. So the whole 'Europe is not doing its bit' is not really justified. We don't need more tanks and soldiers because if we go at Russia like Ukraine does, so many people will die that it doesn't matter who win…
Russia are already attacking Europe. Europe already has a nuclear deterrent.
This is not true. UK and FR have them (probably not enough though). UK/FR definitely wouldn't retaliate if Berlin or Warsaw were to be hit by a RU nuke.

Yes. A helicopter is not a vessel. These kind of monitoring exercises are common amongst both Russians and Americans when operating near each other or their territorial waters.
Russians frequently overfly American and NATO craft. Russia has also been committing acts of sabotage around the world, but more specifically has been cutting undersea communication cables, so they are absolutely worthy of scrutiny.
The Russian Ambassador to Denmark stated that Russia would “thoroughly investigate all the circumstances of the incident”. That's not exactly a hardline statement indicating Russia knows it was in the right.

Europe is already in a warm-war with Russia. EU has sent hundreds of thousands of drones used to attack Russia - along with training, intelligence and target guidance. EU airspace is used openly by Ukraine to attack Russia. IMHO, war should be openly declared with clear objectives. That way the Russian €200 billion can be openly seized without all the whining.
I don’t think so, it is at best a proxy war on the Europe side at present. They are supporting Ukraine. On the Russian side however they are carrying out brazen attacks in EU member states and crossing air and maritime boundaries. Whether the EU should respond in kind is a whole other question.
