Twitter is not society. It's a privately-owned web site, nothing more. Always has been. Participating in it is giving your bogeyman power.

I didn't say Twitter is a society, and it doesn't need to be.

The joke in the comic is "Mr. Gotcha" trying to counter a desire by people to change things, by pointing out that those people participate in those things. Could be society, could be Twitter, could be anything. The comic takes this common internet argument to its logical extreme. The takeaway is that participating in something doesn't actually detract from efforts to change it.

Also, to think that I, one person, can give or withdraw any of twitter's power is a silly proposition.

With modern AI tools, the amount you have to care is slight. Not much of a firewall. And the bad actors causing these scraping problems care a lot.

It feels like the Web is breaking. More and more sites are retreating behind Cloudflare, captchas and PoW defences. When reading Wikipedia on my phone, I have noticed for a while that sometimes half the thumbnails on an article fail to load. Non-corporate browsers are even more unusable than before.

They were pointing out the lack of evidence on my part. I agree it was rude but I don't think it's helpful to start calling it misinformation with no evidence. They had a valid point that not everybody Just Knows already, hence why I did reply with a link. I don't think it's constructive to jab much more than I did in that reply.

And thank you for sending that link, because it was extremely useful and detail-packed.
