Right, but DHH's argument isn't about cultural homogeneity for the sake of it, but rather the consequences of what the other cultures have brought. Reading further from links from the blog, either to his other posts, to the Tommy Robinson march, etc., would tell you that. I.e, you conflate race with merit - because they do associate in the statistics sense, but one is not the other. The OP on the other hand demands f…

I don’t really want to argue with you about whether DHH is far right because it’s tangential to the main point of the article and based on your response I don’t think we’d agree. It’s not about “giving money to a website” it’s about the fact that Digital Ocean purchased a business and hired an employee and then ghosted that employee and stopped paying them (without firing them or shuttering the business.) Thats messe…

While unfortunate that the website is inactive, then any employer is pretty much free to let go any employee (and the employee dispute this if they have grounds for it from contracts). Not to circle back to the left/right topic, but if you think this is "messed up", then I'm not sure how you think the world works at all.

If the love for that site is so great, I'm sure someone will pick it up. Otherwise, I'd doubt "size of love" we are talking about here.

Imagine there is a latin dance club, most want to dance rumba. But a pair who happens to be of other race wants to dance tango. Would sending them to another dance club be racist? If some behavior associates with race, it doesn't mean that it is caused by race. There are plenty of African or Muslim origin people who assimilate just fine. It's just that a larger proportion than natives, some "other" groups commit more…

Imagine you're making a pizza, but you're out of pepperoni. Your mother-in-law is allergic to bacon. Now imagine I'm leaving your house and riding my bike into the sunset.

Like I said, if an attribute is statistically associated with another, then one doesn't cause the other. Proportionally larger part of the immigrants produce less value to society and come to consume away what the natives produced, then basis for reducing immigration or "remigration" is merit, not race.

If you are unable to point errors in this line of thought, then making fun of it will unfortunately make your stance look even weaker.

Complaining that they give money to people you don't like is not a good look when you want them to give money to people you do like.

Because being friendly works doesn't work. Open source maintainers have been screaming about funding for years. One dude comes along, adds some scripts on top of all the work of those maintainers, and gets millions in funding? You can't expect people to be nice then. It's completely messed up.

Framework tried contributing money to GNOME recently. Sadly they also contributed some to Hyprland and Omarchy. As a result, Jordan Petridis / Alatiera of GNOME said they must "contain Hitler particles" to even consider sponsoring... a window manager and a Linux distro.

GNOME declined the money.

Framework also offered money to KDE. KDE accepted the money.

Framework released a computer that ran Fedora KDE: Freedesktop.org Code of Conduct committee member starts crying about the fascism of it.

Later, when DHH got the Omacom foundation's money pledges in, he contacted Arch/AUR people to see about sending some money or resources their way. They declined.

Some reactions on Mastodon to the Omacom announcements:

PostmarketOS dev: "nothing quite as depressing as seeing a fascist get 8 mil and corpo backing to keep building their 'distro' while not even having the funds to hire folks to work full time.

Elementary OS dev to that: "yeah it seems the trick to financial success is to do as much harm as possible"

And they go on to compare Omarchy to servants of the Chaos God Khorne in Warhammer. You know, a god of bloodshed and warfare. Blood for the Blood God, Skulls to the Skull Throne.

Meanwhile, eg. everything I've ever seen of Vaxry has been orders of magnitude more normal than raving about Hitler particles, and somehow he has a multiyear sponsorship to work on Hyprland fulltime, the maker of Quickshell got hired by Omacom, and some other projects they use have received sponsorships. Only Arch declined.

> One dude comes along, adds some scripts on top of all the work of those maintainers, and gets millions in funding?

Said guy moved most of his own company to that distro, and he and his business partner each put down a million dollars of their own money. Just a while ago, when the foundation paperwork wasn't done yet, DHH said the Vaxry and outfoxxed sponsorships came out of his pocket in case there was a snag with setting up the foundation.

> You can't expect people to be nice then. It's completely messed up.

People seem to have been capable of not shouting about Hitler particles, and somehow it's those people who've been sponsored now that one dude managed to scrounge up serious money. Funny, that.

They guy writes things like this https://world.hey.com/dhh/as-i-remember-london-e7d38e64 . Let me say that the generalisations made in here about a far right minority march as if it is 'all brits' is brazen, but not naive. He want's you to think all Brits think like this, in order to push his racist agenda. Let me tell you his mate Tommy Robinson is despised by many. Don't fall for it. Divide and conquer. As old as B…

You're going to be singing an entirely different tune when the "call to pray" is sounded through out your country, your women are dressed head to toe in burkas and your 9year old daughter is being married off to elder men.

Western and eastern cultures don't mix. I could care less what they do over there. But I do care what they do over here.

There is a difference between someone who comes to a country and assimilates into the cultures of that country and someone who comes into that country to destroy it.

Sorry bro, but most immigrants today are here to take over and destroy the culture of countries. They should be deported or jailed and I'm not going to idle by while my country is over taken. I'll gladly be called a racist if that is the case.

You start with a terrible analogy, and then you make a leap into saying false, racist things about crime. Incredible.

Immigrants commit fewer crimes

Also, Muslim is a religion not a race

Getting linux to work flawlessly on M Macs is "just a bunch of scripts"? Wow. Since when tech folks judge the open-source projects so harsh and so much just after they only started?

On the off chance this isn't just trolling: Getting linux to work on M-series Macs was a ton of work and basically none of it was done by the folks behind Omarchy. Exactly the point being made in this argument and elsewhere is that the funding would be better off going to the people who really did the hard parts of that work (e.g. Ashai developers among others)

Omarchy went and sponsored vaxry so he's able to work on Hyprland full time for 3+2 years, hired Quickshell creator outfoxxed and a kernel developer, sponsored upstream projects like mise, and tried to offer resources to Arch/AUR, who refused them.

And like the other poster said, they are actively working on M series support (building on Asahi's excellent work, of course) and making concrete progress.

You'll need to point out where I'm wrong to make any progress here.

I guess you haven't felt the consequences yourself yet.

This is absolute nonsense in every way, in addition to being racist and xenophobic. You aren't special because you won the lottery of what line you were born inside of. Get over yourself.
