if you were disappointed by iOS dictation, give it another shot after this update. It has improved a lot. I've been using it a lot more than before

The market craves good AI experiences... But that doesn't mean Apple is capable of delivering it at this stage.
This post is a testament that mobile AI experience on Android is much better and yet iphones are not really losing market share to that.

#743My Finder now opens every folder scrolled to about 2/3 of the way down instead of all the way on the bottom or top. I end up scrollign 20-30 pages long each time I want to do anything. Yay macOS27!

Apple's search is so comically bad. For example, I can click on my applications, and I have an app called Chess. I can often type letters C-H-E-S-S and have it not show the Chess app. This is inside the applications folder! Many people have complained before. Honestly I ONLY search for app names in spotlight search or application window, it should be trivial to make it actually work. Maybe i just need to vibecode som…

Check out TinyStart. It’s 5€, and the best 5€ I’ve spent in ages. It’s super fast, and handles basic math. Even lets you put the results on the pasteboard!

They have some nasty "dynamic tap zones" algorithm that dynamically resizes the hitbox for keys based on what it predicts you will type in order to reduce miss-taps. I had a second gen iPod Touch and from what I can remember the keyboard experience was vastly superior than the iPhone now
Yeah, I’m not a dedicated iPhone user and my personal phones are androids so my iOS experience has been iPod Touch 2G -> employer owned iPhone 8 -> employer owned iPhone XR -> iPad Air M3. Each of those big gaps have seen the UI shift and the keyboard decline.

TBH Tahoe feels like an especially buggy .0 still. I'm updating as soon as my laptop shows it as available in the hopes that it'll feel closer to a .1 than what Tahoe is.

The iPhone keyboard "intelligent" tap target size is independent of autocorrect, however, and you can't turn it off or adjust it's behavior.
Yes, the keyboard is pretty bad in various ways. I’m still surprised how many comments in this thread (and similar threads in the past) are mentioning the autocorrection, implying that they haven’t turned it off.
Largely because the auto correction is needed to undo the damage caused by the tap target shenanigans.

My last Android device was an Android One, but that seems to have been cancelled. edit: holy crap, iOS 27 made an iPhone 11 pro max I just installed it on so much snappier! Absolutely crazy level of improvement.
How does it fare on iOS 27?
I have the 5-year-old iPad 9th gen with the iPhone 11's A13 chip.
On iOS 26 it was ridiculously slow. I feel that with recent iOS 26 updates the situation has improved and it became somewhat more usable.
For now I am keeping it on iOS 26 for app QA purposes, but would be curious if iOS 27 is an improvement or a regression.

I had edited my comment at the same moment you added yours. It made an 11 Pro Max I installed it behave almost like a brand new phone as far as snappiness. This blew my mind a bit, given what happened with iOS 26. Mind you, I only have 10 minutes of testing so far.

Try an android keyboard and go back to an iphone. Having switched back and forth between both systems it’s quite remarkable how bad the iphone keyboard is. In practice , typing on an iphone means constant typos, bad autofix, and bad suggestions.
As someone who has had an iPhone since the 3GS (I'm so old), but tries Android out every now and then - I can wholeheartedly agree.
The only real advantages iOS have left are not being run by an advertising/tracking company (which is reducing as Apple looks for services revenue) and the quality and variety of indie iPhone and iPad apps (yet Apple are happy to make those same devs extremely unhappy).
