That's 11.3L for the civilised audience. For reference, my 3.6L 6-cyl boxer needs about 6.5L according to my service notes.

Liters are not SI units. Metric isn't magic. It's not ergnomic nor designed around the human body or everyday experiences. It started arbitrary. Then was defined as in terms of the wavelength of radiation from krypton-86. (the meter was 1,650,763.73 wavelengths of that particular transition to match the original arbitrary metal bar) Then they based it on the distance light travels in an arbitrary amount of time (1/29…

Oh man, and I completely missed the part where Imperial units aren't even standardised globally.

Our oil travels across our country via the USA. We also depend heavily on USA refining in certain provinces. This will never happen.

The trade war was claimed to be in part kicked off by a trade deficit - meaning Alberta is simultaneously a major cause of the trade war (by moving so much of their oil south for things refinement, and contributing to the trade imbalance), and a stumbling block for Canada to effectively fight back. Tariffs on Albertan oil will be looked at (by Albertans) as the Liberal PM hurting them out of malice, instead of a cudg…

The trade war tarrifs are punishing Alberta the least. Ontario and Quebec are taking more of it.

> There's no oil in electric motors. Many EVs use hybrid water/oil cooling, typically water for the stator and oil mist/spray for the rotor and exposed parts of the windings.

Playing with semantics. Oil isn't lubricating anything. There is grease in the bearings and the gearbox.

I doubt there's ever been a production car that used grease in the gearbox. Not outside the 1890s, anyway.

Numerous stats show truck owners don’t use their trucks to tow or haul stuff. At least 50% don’t need a truck. There is maybe a 30% that do use their trucks to actually tow and haul on a regular basis. Imagine replacing 50% of pick up trucks with fuel efficient or EV vehicules.

But how much of what you own is do you actually "need." People are welcome to do with there money things that simply make them happy. That is a good and proper use of money. This would be a very boring life indeed if people were only allowed to own things that others decided they need.

It's wild to see all these people clowning on truck owners... and then say they are going to buy two 5090's for local AI even though they know it's less efficient than a cloud and don't necessarily need the privacy aspect of it... but want to do it just "cuz" . The hypocrisy here is amazing.

I think you guys are comparing apples to oranges.

It’s wild you don’t realize it.

> The Saudi pipeline that was attacked had a capacity of 7M barrels per day. Gone for who knows how long. That 7MBPD that needs to come from somewhere. it probably depends on what exactly happened to the pipeline, but normally i'd expect this to be a short term disruption, as replacing a small segment isn't really that hard. The real question is will it be struck over and over again.

The Houthis destroyed a pumping station, you don't just plug in a new one of those in a week or two. Also given the length of the pipeline they can just take out more parts of it at their leisure.

I'd disagree, i think a single pumping station can be fixed relatively quickly. The real problem is your second sentence - if Houthis just keep blowing it up every time the Saudis fix it.

Precisely - Carney can't tariff Albertan oil without stoking seperatist rhetoric, which Smith is using as a political tool instead of stating outright Alberta will always be part of a Canada, and shutting down the [real or manufactured] movement

There is a YouTube channel sponsored by people like you: https://youtube.com/@i_do_cars

What I omitted on purpose is that Ive also only driven it like 4k km during that time period ( ・ั ﹏ ・ั )

Oil is a consumable with both a use lifespan and a time lifespan. So it needs to be changed at the lesser of either of those intervals. Same with tires, which a lot of people don't realize.

I don’t understand this criticism. I have owned an EV for five years now. The app and the vehicle display clearly let you know when you are due for scheduled maintenance. Due to how online the whole platform is, it’s so much better than my older ICE car that has a cryptic wrench light on the dash. Did I mention that the intervals are also so much cheaper? Tires are the one standout but pretty much every thing else is…

There are multiple people in this thread talking about about how their EV requires zero maintenance despite owning them for years, which is just the admitting they are setting up a ticking timebomb of maintenance tasks that are being neglected. And then years down the line they will wonder why their model car has depreciated so poorly despite their battery being in good condition. And they will likely blame ignorance…

What ticking time bombs? Please be specific. I'm an EV owner who has done no maintenance in 26k miles. I want to know which system, if I don't do maintenance, will create some hidden wear which will progress silently until too late.
