Need we remind Anthropic of the 153 million drirvers licenses available for sale on the dark web thanks to a 3rd party ID verification service? https://krebsonsecurity.com/2026/09/fbi-probes-service-selli... The fact that Anthropic only receives a result, not the data itself, does not make me feel any better about this. I really wish we could leave these types of decisions up to parents and parents only. Leave the co…

I think the power for parents to have free reign over everything in a child's life should be reduced if the parents are abusive, but of course there is no way to do this short of infallible and invasive surveillance. All to say, there is no easy solution here. Abusive parents are not going to…

What you proposal then?

(for the records: Mine did too, in addition to half of the people I know.)

Everyone's parents "suck"--they're humans, they're learning, they have problems of their own they struggle with, etc. There are no purely good parents. I'm not excusing actually wretched family conditions, but have been noticing almost every young adult now deplores an unfair childhood--and I can't help but think we'd all be healthier if we could recognize that a childhood with some problems is statistically quite "f…

Very astute observations.

No it's not, it's a cop-out. You really expect every member of society to individually stand up to Anthropic? That thing you just said is not an alternative solution - it is actually an attempt to prevent the problem from being solved at all. Which is fine if you're an Anthropic shareholder and believe the problem should not be solved.

Also these kids will grow up to do harm to the communities in that state, which will spend more money at the end cleaning up those mistakes.

Right now governments in western societies are pouring more money and resources than ever into support programs, and yet we still have record high levels of mental health, unemployment, poverty, waiting times for doctors and support staff etc etc. Government intervention and welfare is proven not to solve the things it tries to. See here for much information about how spending has increased in these sectors in the UK…

Well those support programs don't provide support. They exist to make a profit, just like everything else. Providing a service is secondary.

Fascinating perspective - any technology that has caused >0 deaths is a dead end and has no chance of improvement.

Really hot take apparently: any technology that causes people to commit suicide during therapy isn't a good therapist.

Is your claim that human therapists have caused zero suicides? I hope not for your sake - that would be a really hard one to defend

> more often than not Any data on that? Because to me it sounds like “because they are sometimes true, we should assume they are always true” But I’m open to data.

Is anyone tracking every prediction ever made in a spreadsheet that you could use to verify that the rate is literally >50%? No, not that I'm aware of. The only anecdata I can give is "look around you", how all major (and many smaller) companies are implementing invasive spying tech into their products, harvesting our personal information, selling it, or abusing it any way they can. They sell the products as one thin…

Maybe we travel in different circles. I still hear about Covid vaccines having 5g chips in them and all sorts of other crazy stuff. Rough guess, maybe 10% of what I hear is plausible, and maybe a quarter of that is likely.

Why do you think that a human therapist who causes patients to commit suicide is a good therapist? I don't understand that.

> There should be some kind of OS level flag that can easily broadcast to products that a child is using the device. Anything like that should be configured by the parents. Your child is your responsibility. I shouldn't have to take a picture of my passport just because someone is a neglectful parent.

Absolutely. Of course. Is there any question about this? Do you see people advocating for something other than this?

Yeah, there're people saying everyone should verify their age for the sake of keeping children off internet.
