FWIW, I have two JetKVMs from the original Kickstarter campaign, and both have been in continuous use since the day I received them without a single issue. So the experience definitely varies.

It’s 3x the cost of jetKVM though. For someone with 8 machines in their home lab this is a big commitment.

Comet Q works well, if the usb c port supports DP-ALT

That looks like an interesting device.

I'm more talking about being able to attach a normal laptop to another computer though, without any IP/Networking requirements.

Level1Techs make their own high end KVMs. They’re expensive but reasonable if you need high refresh support and other such niceties.

The most groundbreaking aspect of this product is its MCU-based solution, and it uses software encoding on the controlled machine to achieve 4K@60. 4K is not needed in BIOS scenarios.

Bummer to not see the atx control support. Its the main use i have from my ipkvm to do fde decryption and boot the machine once wake on lan fails.
