I think you should replace vibecode with vibecod so that you can catch vibecoding too.

Also add "vibe cod" with a space.

Maybe all this time we were just in a ZIRP bubble and the people who claimed to be "interested in programming" were just grifting to the top all along.

I do NOT have a problem with AI. Again, the problem is with the flooding that drowns-out other news. I intentionally say "limit the AI news" in this post's title.

I wasn’t suggesting you do. But how relevant is AI to your everyday life? Do you use it heavily yourself?

I was irritated by AI news until it became one of my main tools.

I've been hearing a lot of "Amdahl's law" regarding AI - the rule that says the slowest part of a system sets the speed of what you can accomplish. On one hand, this means that AI has sped up software (so there is more software news because you can make a 20-page blog post in one prompt now), but it doesn't speed up, say, shipping hardware products that much. I guess we need to re-weight the news to include how hard it is, not just how many tokens it makes.

Thanks for sharing. I'm going to give it a spin for a while. The downside is you cannot comment or vote on the external site so you are always juggling the two sites for that.

Yes, the quadrillion dollar anti-AI industry really pays exorbitant salaries to influencers!!!11!!

Can the AI people do anything else than modify the arguments of their opponents? I guess not, their brains have been quantized.

No. RoR lets you build a certain class of web apps faster. AI lets you build almost anything faster.

Again, I'm not bashing AI and I'm much more productive with AI myself too, no need to try to defend something I'm not attacking...

HN is often dominated by a Thing that is happening, during periods when there is some dominant Thing going on. In my time here, that has been many different Things over the years; social media, SaaS, Ruby on Rails, javascript frameworks, Rust, VR, self driving, crypto, and now AI (and this list is certainly missing a few). And during all those periods, lots of people have complained that the Thing of the moment is getting too much attention. But IMO, this kind of eye of sauron effect on a main Thing of a given time is mostly good. We're all here working out what we think of things, and it is useful to focus a lot of discussion on the new Thing that is developing and moving quickly.
