The Huggingface incident strongly suggests that OpenAI is not able to make its products consistently law-abiding.

It's not like OpenAI carelessly neglected to consider that its products might break the law: it has spent literally billions of dollars in scientific and engineering talent and compute resources over many years to make its products law-abiding and otherwise "safe". The worry is that the only reason the Huggingface incident caused "zero actual damage" is because AI is not yet more ingenious than human criminals are, and of course our society has been hardened against human criminals. The worry is that as they become more capable, AI systems will start to be able to cause considerable damage, which will make the fact that the industry does not know how to control its products enough to prevent that damage a big problem for all of us.

Nobody has the responsibility to tell me what to do, but I sure would love some ideas because I don’t have any.

As misguided and misinformed as some of it may be, the "anti AI" and "no more datacenters" pushback in the US is actually working to some extent. Multiple states and locales have issued construction/permit moratoriums already. If you think it's a threat, help slow it down.

Comments like these I'm willing to bet are because of the Reddit sub that's bringing Redditors with drop-mic comments in here. A ton of these things, usually but not always down voted. I think when they start hitting the top it's time to find threads without any possibility of Israel, Trump or Epstein possibly being brought up. I almost miss the old new-JS-framework complaint posts.

I would take that bet, anyone can examine my comment history and see that I've been participating on this site for a decade. Regardless, this comment violates the site guidelines.

No, just that “What if I just cheat to get the treat” is also something my lovable Boxer does when I hide rewards as well.

I suppose her energy is limited but even if infinite, and with caution, I estimate the chances of a mass extinction event due to Pickle taking over the world at < 1%.

In all except the very least-developed countries in the world today, being without electricity for more than a few days would quickly result in significant lawlessness, starvation, and water shortages. So not an "extinction level event", but quite feasibly a "collapse of nation-states as we know them" event.
